Hello, and welcome!

My name is Jessica Pigza. I am an avid seamstress and knitter, an enthusiast of books and other objects you can learn to make by hand, a lover of vintage craft guides, and a rare book librarian at The New York Public Library. I incorporate the handmade into my work in a variety of ways, including events and classes, a video series, and an institutional blog.

I start far more projects in my non-work crafting than I finish, but I love learning new skills as much as I appreciate settling into meditative, familiar rhythms of creativity. I’m trying not to let my stash of fabric and yarn grow, but I am more easygoing about my expanding craft book collection.

If you’re a librarian or library user, I’d welcome the chance to share stories about what our libraries are up to when it comes to DIY, as well as personal crafty projects. You’ll find me on Twitter. You can also write to me.

Thanks for visiting.

Jessica
